1. What names stick out as important to you? Any names that have become part of the modern lexicon?
2. Why did the Israelites list the names of the descendants of non-Israelites?
3. Why would the new nation of Israel need old roots?
Application
1. Why do we keep genealogies today? What purpose do they serve?
2. As Christians, where do we root ourselves?
1. These names stuck out to me: Sarah, Abrahamm, Isaac, Esau and Israel. I will say I did like this question much. It made me feel inferior. Like I should have been able to identify other names that had a significance that I missed. In a group I probably would have withheld my answer to see what someone else had to say about it. Also what is the modern lexicon?
ReplyDelete2. Battles and such occur with these individuals. Such as the: Hittites,Jebusites, Amorites, Girgashites, & Hivites
Application
1. Genealogies are a way to see who we are related to. It helps us view patterns of behavior that have followed a family line, success and curses that may need to be broken.
2. We are all to be rooted in Christ.
