Hannah's Prayer; Eli's Sons; Samuel's Childhood

1. How did Hannah express her gratitude to God for her child?
2. What evil deeds did the son's of Eli get up too?

2. They sabotaged the sacrifice by taking it before ti was time and they slept with the women(AX) who served at the entrance to the tent of meeting.

Application
1. Prayer, being in His word, believing on His promises, telling others of His goodness, obedience and living a life of discernment seeking to only act or speak when the Father prompts us.
2. yes, for knowledge does not always penetrate the heart. To know the Lord we must acknowledge our need for a savior for our own sinfulness. We must also desire and seek after being transformed into His likeness. It is only then that we will truly know Him.
3. We are to be in the world but not of it. Yet I believe the emphasis being that we can prevent is a futile. for in and of ourselves we can do nothing. It is only through the transforming power and grace of the presence of God that will keep us from corruption. We are certainly powerless to prevent our children from corruption. We can provide a healthy environment, consequences for poor behavior and guidance for their actions but they will be accountable to God for their own sin.
4. I could rattle off a bunch of things that would seem to cause us to grow but without a repentant, contrite heart submitted before the Father for direction it will not lead to growth and most likely lead to stagnation.
I am concerned that both this question and the last may lead a the discussion in the direction of good works. Without a balance leader and other members of the group to put this in perspective these questions could be damaging to faith in god despite our circumstances.
